What did you do prior to SSCS?
I was a Model Classroom Teacher and BTSA Mentor for Kindergarten and First Grade at Capitol Heights Academy, an Aspire Public School.

Oregon, Washington, and California
Where did you go to college?
I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from UC Davis, a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Spanish, History, and English, and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Sacramento State University. I also earned an AA from Sierra College in Liberal Arts and Humanities.

Do (did) you homeschool your kids?
What do you think is/are the best thing(s) about SSCS?
South Sutter is a stable, dependable school that has been serving students for many years. Each year the school only gets better! The ESs I work with are so dedicated, the students I serve are truly exceptional, and just love the bonds that have formed over the years.
As a homeschool mom, I feel that I have the freedom to tailor my daughter's curriculum/classes to her individual style, with support and guidance from the school.
What is your favorite curriculum?
Currently, Sequential Spelling is a spelling favorite, along with Right Start Mathematics, and Silicon Valley for high schoolers.
What is your favorite read aloud book?
So hard to choose! Right now, my daughter is reading me Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I am loving it! A Read Aloud as a teacher would be Lily's Purple Plastic Purse.
What is your favorite field trip?
Coloma Gold Rush Days and we love visiting the Auburn State Recreation Area for hiking and nature walks.
What is your area of expertise?
K-3 reading intervention and reading recovery, Spanish (credential and teach ESi), and serving high school students. I have extensive experience with Waldorf education/curriculum and unit study learning.
What is your dream summer vacation?
Mountain running and camping.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to spend time with my family, be outside, go camping, run in the mountains, and read.
What is something interesting about yourself that many people might not know?
I was a semi-professional salsa dancer in college!
