ELPAC - English Language Proficiency Assessments for California
The California Department of Education (CDE) is transitioning from the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) to the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California
(ELPAC) in the spring of 2018. The ELPAC will be the new required state test for English Language Proficiency (ELP) that must be given to students whose primary language is any language other than English.
The first operational Summative Assessment (SA) administration will begin February 1, 2018. All students who are currently identified as English Language Learners (ELL) will take the ELPAC during the testing window in 2018. The testing window has not been determined but as soon as that information is available to us we will share it with all of the families. This test MAY NOT be WAIVED as it is a REQUIRED state assessment for students who are currently identified as ELL or who have any other language other than English stated on their Home Language Survey.
