Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is PLTW?

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a non profit organization that provides the nation's leading STEM programs to schools across the country. Teachers who participate in this training learn to teach K-12 STEM in creative and engaging ways with the PLTW curriculum.

Why aren’t there any STEAM classes for Jr High & High School?

All sites offer the PLTW Launch program for 1st-6th grade. Depending on training and availability, some sites are also able to offer middle school and high school courses. We are seeking to offer the maximum variety of classes within our time constraints and look forward to training more of our teachers in these courses.

What is the STEAM Storytime?
STEAM Storytime is offered for our youngest students and built on the NSTA (National Science Teacher Association) Picture Perfect STEM. Students will be engaged in literature based, hands-on lessons that convey how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics intersect in the real world.
What will be taught in the ART classes?
Our art program is built upon the Meet the Masters curriculum and taught by credentialed ESs. Each art session students will use a wide variety of high quality art materials and techniques to explore the great artists of history.
Why isn’t the program offered in my local park?

There are many factors to consider when planning the route of the Mobile Science Lab. There are some cities and facilities that cannot permit us to hold classes at their sites. Some areas we do not have a great enough student population to warrant a full program. We hope to offer classes within a 30 minutes driving distance from our families. Each year we thoughtfully chose our locations based off of parent needs and park availability.

What is the drop off policy?

Each site staffed with a site assistant will offer drop off for 1 or more consecutive classes. Students under the age of 16 must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
