I taught in a high school in Vermont, and I also was a waitress.
How long have you been with SSCS?
Since the very first day in the summer of 2005. This is my 13th year.

What do you think is/are the best thing(s) about SSCS?
I love the freedom and flexibility it gives parents so that they can choose the best educational path for their kids. I also love how stable and reliable South Sutter is; we have been around for a long time, and we plan to stick around even longer! Finally, I love our ESs. I get to work with some of the most amazing colleagues who have giant hearts for their students.
Do (did) you homeschool your kids?
Yes, we homeschool 5 of our 6 kids.
What is your favorite curriculum?
Right now we are loving Comprehend (online). We also love Moving Beyond the Page.
What is your favorite read aloud book?
The Secret Keepers by Trenton Lee Stewart
What is your favorite field trip?
Our kids love the homeschool days at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but our favorite is Living History Days at Sutter's Fort.
What is your area of expertise?
My original credential is in High School English. I love helping older students with essays.
What is your dream summer vacation?
Renting a villa in Tuscany and traveling all over Italy to see art, taste wine, and eat yummy food.

Literature and novel studies
What do you like to do in your free time?
Sing, take classes, make wine
What is something interesting about yourself that many people might not know?
I was a real rock star in college! My band Belizbeha toured the country and played 200+ shows a year for about 5 years.
