Lida K., a senior at South Sutter Charter School, took first place in the Crescendo International Competition and will be performing at the Winners' Recital at Carnegie Hall in January 12th.
She started playing violin when she was 6 years old. She is a member of Sacramento Youth Symphony since 2013 and has been a concertmaster in Classic and Academic orchestras. Currently she is playing in Premier orchestra.
In 2017 Lida was accepted as a talented musician to an International Classical Music Festival in Saarburg Germany. She received a Certificate of Recognition from the Senator's office "For her dedication and talent in the arts that helped elevate the community through music and culture."
Lida is actively involved with music sharing her talent with the local community. She continuously plays for senior and nursing homes. Only last year she helped to raise money for various organizations such as Keaton's Child Cancer Alliance, "Children for Children" with Child Advocates, Children in Uganda, "The End of Watch Tribute to The Fallen Firefighters” , Filipino National Day Association Annual Fundraiser, Little School House Annual Fundraiser (her preschool), James Marshall Elementary School Fall Fundraiser and "Magic of Music" Sacramento Youth Symphony.
She has been able to do all this, and maintain a 4.3 GPA, with her incredible determination and perseverance and the flexibility of our program. Lida wants to become a doctor and open her own clinic one day. She is passionate in helping people not only in her local community but she also wants to travel the world's poorest places and help people there as well. Congrats Lida!
